About the Balderdash

The Balderdash is a spinning competition originally created by members of the Ravelry group, "Moxie" as a parody competition, upon reading about reports of a grossly mismanaged competition whose administrators should have known better. We had so much fun the first year that we decided to keep it going, now known as the Balderdash!

Inaugurated in 2017 for the 2018 season and originally known by its parody name, "Spintrolla", the Balderdash competition incorporates a vast number (maybe 12) of spinners around the solar system who will spin real (or imaginary) yarn between Monday, January 7 (Distaff Day) and Sunday, January 13, either as a member of a team or as a Rigamaroloner (solo spinner).

Our wonderful sponsors provide all kinds of completely nonsensical prizes and ocassionally nag or prod their teams into action. In return, we grant them completely randomized adspace. Support our sponsors!

All registration fees -- which of course are completely bogus -- are going to support the Dihydrogen Monoxide Research Division and its mission of spreading awareness about the dangers of Dihydrogen Monoxide!

Note that even though our overall charity support is tongue-in-cheek, in many cases, the support that our spinners give to actual charities is real: in 2018, participants supported five charities during the spinning week, including 26 hours directly volunteered all while the competition was taking place.
